Mission Viejo

Mission Viejo is an extraordinarily scenic, 10,000-acre planned community in South Orange County, superbly located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, 5 miles east of breathtaking Laguna Beach.  The title to the land upon which Mission Viejo is developed dates back to 1769 and the beginning of Spanish rule in California.  The ONeill family took title to the lands in 1907, and in 1963, Mission Viejo Company began the purchase of land for a new planned community.  This innovative master plan called for 52 percent of the land to be devoted to residential usage, 29 percent to parks, open space and recreation, 10 percent to schools and churches and 9 percent to business properties.  The completed community is expected to have a population of 95,000.
